Before and after adoption of Security Council Resolution 2401 on Saturday, calling for a 30-day ceasefire so food, medical and other humanitarian supplies can reach civilians in need, attacks by US-supported terrorists continue, notably in Eastern Ghouta.
Virtually all Western media follow the same disinformation narrative, reading like Pentagon and CIA press releases.
In its Monday edition, the NYT headlined “Despite UN Cease-Fire, Syrian Forces Begin New Attacks in Rebel-Held Enclave,” saying:
SC Res. 2401 “appeared to have little effect on Sunday, as Syrian government forces began new ground attacks against a rebel-held enclave east of Damascus…and continued aerial bombings that have killed more than 500 people there in the past week.”
Fact: SC Res. 2401 permits continued combat operations against ISIS, al-Nusra, and al-Qaeda.
Fact: Syrian and Russian aerial operations aren’t striking civilian neighborhoods or hospitals in Eastern Ghouta or anywhere else in the country, as falsely reported.
Fact: US-supported terrorists bear full responsibility for continued aggression and atrocities committed against civilians in Eastern Ghouta and Damascus – Syria falsely blamed for their high crimes.
The neocon/CIA house organ Washington Post headlined “Violence rages unabated in Ghouta as Syria defies UN cease-fire resolution,” saying:
“Syrian government forces defied a new UN Security Council resolution calling for a cease-fire on Sunday by launching a ground offensive, sustaining their airstrikes and allegedly dropping at least one bomb laden with chlorine against a rebel-held enclave outside Damascus.”
Fact: Syria’s Eastern Ghouta ground offensive is a legitimate operation to liberate the enclave from US-supported terrorists.
Fact: Alleging a Syrian toxic chlorine attack is a bald-faced lie. More on this below.
WaPo: SC Res. 2401 “exclude(d) unspecified ‘terrorists,’ a loophole…providing justification for continued fighting on many fronts.”
Fact: Res. 2401 authorized continued combat operations against ISIS, al-Nusra and al-Qaeda. WaPo lied claiming otherwise.
The Wall Street Journal headlined “Syrian Regime Tests UN Cease-Fire With Further Strikes on Ghouta,” saying:
Syrian forces “continued to bomb the besieged area of Eastern Ghouta near Damascus on Sunday, residents and activists said, posing an immediate challenge to the United Nations Security Council’s call for a nationwide cease-fire.”
Fact: So-called “residents and activists” include al-Qaeda-linked White Helmet terrorists and the UK-based, Western funded, anti-Assad, anti-human rights Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).
Fact: Syrian, Russian and allied forces are observing Res. 2401, US-supported terrorists, Pentagon-led coalition partners, and Turkey flagrantly breaching it.
Al Jazeera headlined “Syria war: ‘Gas attack’ kills child in Eastern Ghouta,” saying:
Unidentified so-called “(h)ealth officials in the rebel-held enclave of Eastern Ghouta are accusing Syrian government forces of using poisonous gas in their aerial bombardment campaign in the Damascus suburb.”
“Syria’s Civil Defense, also known as the White Helmets, said on Sunday that women and children in the town of Al-Shifoniyah were experiencing difficulty breathing.”
“At least one child died as a result of suffocation, they said on their official Twitter account.”
Fact: A same-day article said the following:
Russia’s reconciliation center issued a warning, saying “data at our disposal indicates the leaders of militant units are preparing a provocation that will involve the utilization of chemical weapons in order to accuse the government forces of deploying chemical weapons against peaceful civilians.”
Fact: As explained above, White Helmets aren’t civil defense workers, just the opposite.
The NYT, Wapo, WSJ and Al-Jazeera continued waging propaganda war on Syria, on Russia and Iran as well in other reports.
Virtually all Western media are involved in the same diabolical campaign to blame Syria and its allies for high crimes committed by Washington, its rogue allies and terrorist foot soldiers.
War on Syria rages with no prospect for resolution any time soon, civilians paying the greatest price, victims of imperial ruthlessness.
