UN Warns 130 Israeli Firms of Inclusion to 'Black-List' for Operating in Occupied Territory

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights has warned some 130 Israeli companies of their inclusion to a blacklist for “acting contrary to international law and UN resolutions”. Israeli media reported that Nearly 60 international firms had also received similar warnings from the UN's Zeid Ra'ad al-Hussein for operating in the occupied Palestinian territories. The UN rights office is set to publish the full list of companies in December. The US has threatened to withdraw from the Human Rights Council if the list is published. In 2016, the international forum voted to compile a database of all businesses enabling or profiting from development of Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories. The proposal also condemned Israeli settlement construction and urged companies not to do business with Israeli settlements.
